Stezyca - Sandomierz

18 July

70 Miles

Still following the River Vistula as much as possible I continued to make my way south through lovely countryside and through bucolic little villages.  Swathes of the population here live on little small holdings with a vegetable garden, flowers, chickens and invariably a snappy little dog.  The dogs here are pussies compared to the beasts I had to put up with in Louisiana.  Sometimes to make up time I will take a main road, if there is a good shoulder to it, but for the most part I stick to the little country lanes.  Sandomierz is an historical castle town, and I found myself staying in some converted baronial edifice which was lovely.  Dinner on the terrace was only marred by the presence of some foul mouthed Brits, I think from Yorkshire, who were definitely not  behaving themselves, the women especially,  One of the joys of this trip is not coming across many British people.  I’m not sure that Poland is on Tui’s list.  I'm hoping this lot I encountered are the exception.
