Richard (the vicar of Maidenhead, well part of it), David and me flew to Naples in early January for a few days, and were joined by Father Michael from Burt, Co Donegal, who flew from Derry to Stansted to Rome, and then on by train to Naples (an unnecessarily complicated way of doing it if you ask me, but he wouldn't take my travel advice, which could have saved him hours of time and pounds of money, or in his case euros !), but by nightfall we were all together in the hotel and ready for our short holiday.

Lovely weather (too hot in fact on the last day), great food, wonderful views across the bay to Vesuvius (I don't think Naples is a sure bet for the property market with Vesuvius sitting there ready to blow), trips out to Capri and Pompeii, and lots of effort in trying to avoid the dog doo which proliferates in Naples more than anywhere else I have ever seen. If you want a short city break, try Naples. It really is fun.
