I went out to Rome in October 2005 to meet my mother and father who were on a Mediterranean cruise ship along with their friends which stopped off at Civitavecchia. I hired a car for the day, picked them up early morning, whizzed them in to Rome for a quick tour around, lunch, and a chance to visit St Peter's Square where the Pope was canonising some saints that day. A bit of a rush, but good fun. Then back to the ship, and off for the remainder of the cruise. I stayed on for a few days at San Patrizio, with a trip out to Genazzano and San Pio.
